Relay

Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 August 2026

Relay sends notes you write to email addresses you choose. This policy describes exactly what that involves: what is stored, what leaves our servers, and what you can delete.

Relay does not track you. There is no advertising, no analytics SDK, no third-party tracker, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. The app carries no tracking domains.

What we store

DataWhy
Your account email Identifies your account and is used for sign-in, email confirmation and password resets. It comes from Apple, Google, or the address you enter.
Your name (optional) Shown to recipients as the sender name. Supplied by Apple or Google at sign-in, or entered by you in Settings.
Destinations The labels and email addresses you save as places to send notes.
Note contents The text of every note you send, plus its subject and recipient, kept as your send history so you can review and resend. Notes scheduled for later are stored until they are sent or cancelled.
Your signature (optional) Appended to notes you send, if you set one.
Usage counts How many notes and AI requests you have made this month, to apply plan limits.
Subscription status Whether Relay+ is active and when it renews, from Apple. We never receive your payment details.

Passwords, when you use one, are stored only as a salted hash and cannot be read back. Email confirmation and password reset codes are stored only as hashes, expire, and can be used once.

What leaves our servers

Email delivery

To deliver a note, we send the recipient address, subject, message text, your sender name and your reply-to address to Resend, our email provider. This is unavoidable: it is how the note reaches its destination.

Notes are sent from an address on our own domain, not from yours. Your email address is set as the reply-to address so replies reach you directly, unless your account uses an Apple private-relay alias, which cannot receive replies from unregistered senders.

AI features (Relay+ only, and only when used)

Two Relay+ features send note text to Anthropic: Clean up, when you tap it, and Smart subject, when you switch it on. Both are off by default.

If you do not use those two features, your notes are never sent to any AI provider. Free accounts cannot reach them at all — the restriction is enforced on our servers, not in the app.

Sign-in

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we verify the token they issue and receive a stable identifier, your email address, and your name if the provider shares it. We do not receive your password.

Subscriptions

Relay+ is billed by Apple. We receive confirmation from Apple that a subscription is active and when it expires. We never see your card, billing address, or Apple Account details.

Hosting

Relay's servers and database run on Railway.

Voice dictation

Dictation uses Apple's speech recognition. On devices and languages that support it, transcription happens entirely on your device. Otherwise iOS sends the audio to Apple for transcription, under Apple's privacy policy. Relay never receives or stores the audio — only the text that appears in the note field, which you can edit or delete before sending.

How long we keep things

Notes and send history are kept until you delete them. There is no automatic expiry, so a note you sent last year is still in your history unless you removed it.

You can delete individual notes from your history at any time, and you can delete your entire account from Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account permanently erases your destinations, your notes and history, your scheduled sends, your signature, and your sign-in identities. This cannot be undone.

Email that has already been delivered cannot be recalled — once a note has been sent, the copy in the recipient's inbox is outside our control.

Your choices

If you would like a copy of your data, or have a question about it, contact us at support@relayapp.online.

Children

Relay is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Sending requires a confirmed email address, so an unverified account cannot send mail. Signing out ends every session for your account, not just the one on that device, and resetting your password does the same.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is used, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.
